ABSTRACT

In Maharashtra, the wrestling has its own tradition and history. It is popular game thought the state played in every villages and cities. The wrestling competitions were organize on festivals and important events regularly. The health awareness of Maratha worriers found in the history.  Marathwada region wrestlers like Late Harishchandra Birajdar (Olympic Games), Kaka Pawar, Govind Pawar, and Rahul Aware and Other wrestlers achieved success in International level, due to their achievement, the game became very much popular in this region. To encourage the youth of the state it is need to advertise the achievement of wrestlers who participated and won awards at National and International wrestling competitions, hence the study entitled, RAHUL BALASAHEB AWARE, AN EMINENT WRESTLER OF MARATHWADA REGION, A CASE STUDY is undertaken.

Rahul Balasaheb Aware one of the most promising wrestlers of India and a champion lives by the theory of survival of the fittest. It has the driving force that has helped this young wrestler deliver some excellent performance throughout the career. His strange belief and never say die attitude enabled Rahul to bag the Gold in the Common Wealth Youth Games in the year 2008.

Rahul who belongs to Beed district in Maharashtra State, developed his interest for wrestling at an early age of seven .His father who was a renewed wrestler. They introduce him in wrestling and guided/trained him to the sports and cached him through the initial phase of his career. He adopted the lessons of wrestling (tactics and techniques) from his father Balu Aware in his village Akhada and participated in state level competition.

After graduating through a series of wrestling competitions at the state level, he selected in the Pune wrestling center, at the centre he was coach by Harish Chandra Birajdar (Olympic Games participant and Common Wealth Games Gold medalist). Harish Chandra Birajdar who guided him for adopt the techniques and tactics to master art. Competing in 55 kg category Rahul won various laurels for India at both national and international level. The year 2009 has been a glorious one for Rahul as bagged many medals gold in the Junior Wrestling Championship and silver in the World Junior Wrestling Championship. He also won a bronze in the Gold grand prix, in 2010; MCT recognized his caliber to be an Olympic champion ship. They provided him the facilities that would help him improves his skills. MCT was his soul strength and inspired him when he was injured and after knee surgery.

Rahul is an availed sports lover and takes keen interest in cricket. Besides, he also loved listening to music during his free time. A true champion his inspiration journey to becoming a world-wrestling champion brings hopes to those pursuing their passion.
