The selected 200(100 male and 100 female) subjects from Netaji Subhashchandra Bose Arts Commerce and Science College Nanded as subjects for this study. Selected 200 subjects were belonging form different places of Nanded city and Nanded Taluka and who were participated in Inter college or Inter school sports tournaments for data collection. The researcher received 200 questionnaire duly filled by the subjects.

INTRODUCTION

People adopt yoga as a tool to keep the body and mind fit, to cure diseases by improving functions of vital organs of the body. Yoga and yogic practice awaken the inert strength of the body, mind and soul. Yoga benefits people of all ages and has proven its efficiency in effectively maintaining and bringing about the psycho physiological equilibrium and emotional stability. Yoga can be one mechanism towards health related fitness.  Being associated with college sports activities from last twenty five years the researcher’s concentrated on the various body type and structure of the college students and how they effect on the performance as well ass their fitness level.  Keeping this view, in mind that the sports men/women are ignoring the importance of yoga for the development of games skill and performance.  the researcher start to think about the factors (yoga and sports)  that are interrelated and have some influence on each other. The purpose of the study was to determine the attitude of college students towards Yoga.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

The purpose of this study was to examine the interest in yoga among college sports participant students.

To bring the awareness of yoga among college students.

HYPOTHESIS

Depending upon the research finding of review of literature and scholar’s own understanding about the selected problem, it was hypothesized that:-

H1:- The College sports participated Boys will have positive attitude towards Yoga.

H2:- The College sports participated Girls will have positive attitude towards Yoga.

H3:- The College sports participated Students will have positive attitude towards Yoga.

DELIMITATIONS

The study was delimited to Boys and Girls of Degree College of N.S.B. College Nanded who participated in Inter College / inter school Tournaments.

The study was delimited to certain selected Questionnaire

The study was delimited to 200 subjects (100 Male and 100 female)

LIMITATIONS

  • The study was conducted on the basis of paper pencil test. The shot coming of questionnaire technique was recognized as a limitation of the study.
  • The student’s attitude towards a particular question was considered as the limitation of the study

 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study may increase self-awareness on psychological level

This study may relieve the symptoms of several common and potentially life-threatening illnesses.

This study may again the knowledge and awareness in students about modern life style

This study may help in well being of school children

 ADMINISTRATION AND COLLECTON OF DATA

The purpose of the study was explained to subjects. Necessary instructions were given to all subjects before answering of the questionnaire by them. All the subjects were instructed to respond the questionnaire individually without consulting other. They were given enough time to answer the questionnaire. All the subjects were told that no answers were wrong of right. They had to express their trunk opinion as per what they felt about themselves as per each quedtio0ns of the questionnaire. Confidentiality of the responses was granted so that the subjects would not camouflage their real feelings. The questionnaires were distributed to 100 Boys and 100 Girls of the Netaji Subhashchandra Bose Arts Commerce and Science College Nanded. Questionnaire and pen were used to fill up information; minimum 30 minutes were given to the students. After 30 minutes, filled questionnaires were collected for feeding data. The data were collected with the help of standardized questionnaire consisting of 30 questions related to yoga attitude scale and categorization of attitude were done as follows

V.L.Y.A.  = very low Yoga attitude

L.Y.A.   = Low Yoga Attitude

A.Y.A. = Average Yoga Attitude

H.Y.A. = High Yoga Attitude

V.H.Y.A. = Very High Yoga Attitude

 MEASUREMENT OF ATTITUDE

The “Yoga Attitude scale” (Y.A.S.) can be scored by hand only. It has 15 positive and 15 negative items. For positive 2, 1, 0 scores is given to agreed, undecided and disagreed, undecided and disagreed respectively. As for negative items, scoring is reversed as mentioned in the table 3.1 below. Categorization of Yoga attitude on the basis of obtained scores of the subjects as mentioned in table 3.2 below.

ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

The statistical analysis of the data which were collected through the administration of the questionnaires have been presented in this chapter. The data were analyzed by using the descriptive technique of percentile method in this chapter.

The data were arranged systematically in tabular forms associated with graphical representations and were interpreted logically considering the score values. There3sults of the study have been presented below in tables 4.1 to 4.3

 RESULT ON PEREENTAGE OF RESPONSES ON ATTITUDE OF COLLEGE BOYS

The result of responses of college boys, revealed that the 0% subject having (response 0) the Very low Yoga Attitude towards Yoga and 3% subject having (response 3) the Low Toga Attitude towards Yoga, the avertge4 Yoga Attitude score in 8% (response 8) the 23% subject having (response 23 the High Yoga Attitude towards Yoga and 66%subject having (response 66) the very High Yoga Attitude towards Yoga.

DISCUSSION OF THE FINDING: 

It is evident from the analysis of the data that the majority of the college boys showed a positive response towards the attitude of yoga.

 RESULT ON PERCENTAGE OF RESPNSES ON ATTITUDE OF COLLEGE GIRLS

The result of responses of college girls as presented in Table 4.2 revealed that the 0% subject having (response 0) the very low Yoga Attitude towards Yoga and 0% subject having (response 0) the Low Yoga attitude towards Yoga the average Yoga attitude score in 5% (response 5), the 37% subject having (response 37) the High Y6oga Attitude towards Yoga and 58% subject having (response 58) the very high Yoga attitude towards Yoga.

DISCUSSION OF THE FINDING:

It is evident from the analysis of the data that the majority of the college sports participated girls showed a positive response towards the attitude of Yoga.

  RESULT ON PRECENTAGE OF RESPONSES OF ATTITYUDE OF COLLEGE SPORTS PARTICIPATED STUDENTS

The result of responses of college sports participated students as presented in Table 4.3 revealed that the 0% subject having (response 0) the Very low Yoga attitude towards Yoga the average Yoga attitude score in 6.5% (response 13), the 30% subject having (response 60) the high Yoga Attitude towards Yoga and 62% subject having (response 124) the very high Yoga attitude towards Yoga.

DISCUSSION OF THE FINDING:

It is evident from the analysis of the data that the majority of the college sports participated students showed a positive response towards the attitude of yoga. Hence the hypothesis i.e. h3 “The college sports participated students will have positive attitude Towards Yoga” has been accepted.
